Thevaram (தேவாரம்) is the great collection of Tamil hymns to Shiva by three saints, Thirugnanasambandar, Thirunavukkarasar (Appar) and Sundarar, gathered in the first seven books of the Thirumurai. There are thousands of verses, grouped in decads called pathigams, each sung at a temple. This page starts with six of the best-known hymns, one on each part.
Each part is one whole hymn with its meaning in Tamil and English. They are: Thodudaiya Seviyan (1.1), the Kolaru Pathigam (2.85), the Namasivaya Pathigam (4.11), Maasil Veenaiyum (5.90), Pitha Pirai Soodi (7.1) and Ponnar Meniyane (7.24). More hymns will be added over time.
