The big brother of Tirupati
The people of this village call their temple Annankoil, the temple of the elder brother. They say that the lord here is like the elder brother of the famous Venkateswara of Tirupati, and that anyone who cannot make the long journey to the hills may pray here and find the same blessing. The lord is called Srinivasa Perumal, with Padmavati beside him. In the same temple is a small shrine for Kumudavalli Nachiyar, who tradition says was found here and who later married Thirumangai Azhwar, the poet. A king of the Ikshvaku line named Svetharaju is also believed to have prayed here. In this way, the small temple holds stories of kings, poets and pilgrims, all gathered by a simple idea: that the divine is close at hand.

Historyவரலாறு
The temple is praised by Thirumangai Azhwar and is mentioned in the 108 Tirupati Anthathi in the 18th and 19th centuries. A king named Svetharaju, of the Ikshvaku dynasty, is believed to have worshipped the presiding deity here. It is sometimes called the Southern Tirupati (Then Tirupati).

A three-tiered gateway tower stands in front, and all the shrines are enclosed within a rectangular granite wall. The tank is opposite the gateway tower. The temple has a single enclosure with separate shrines for Perumal, Manavala Mamunigal, Nachiyar and Nammazhwar. Kumudavalli Nachiyar, the wife of Thirumangai Azhwar, has her own shrine, and there is a separate Hanuman temple (Vijaya Anjaneya) in front of the main tower.
