The poet who comes every year
Every year in the cool month of Thai, there is a day when the people of Thirunangur get ready for a special visitor. The visitor is Thirumangai Azhwar, the poet, whose festival image is carried from the nearby town of Thiruvali-Thirunagari. The eleven small temples of the village send out their deities on mounts shaped like the eagle Garuda. The poet's image comes on a seat of swan-like carvings, and his verses for each temple are recited as he visits them. Villagers say that before the great day, a fresh breeze sweeps over the rice fields, and the farmers take it as a sign that the harvest will be good. It is a festival of poems and rice, of devotion and the land.

Historyவரலாறு
The temple belongs to the group of eleven in Thirunangur. It is praised by Thirumangai Azhwar, and the sage Upamanyu is believed to have worshipped here. The temple is mentioned in the 108 Tirupathi Anthathi, and local belief says that the Azhwar visits each year for the festival of the eleven deities.

Architectureகட்டிடக்கலை
The temple is small: a single sanctum, a three-tiered vimana, and rectangular walls enclosing the shrines. The images of Purushottaman and his consort Purushottanayaki stand inside the sanctum, with the festival images in the same shrine. The Garuda Mandapa is a small shrine in line with the central shrine, the entrance and the altar. It is surrounded by paddy fields, about 10 km from Sirkazhi.
