The eleven who came to bow
When Shiva's furious dance had produced eleven new forms of himself, the world was in danger. The eleven Rudras were as fierce as lightning. But when Vishnu appeared, the story says, the eleven came to bow before him. Indra, the king of the gods, came too, and together they worshipped the lord at this small temple. The lord is called Vaikuntanathan, the master of Vaikuntha, and the sanctum is said to be equal to Vaikuntha itself. Visitors often stand a long time in front of the lord, whom the tradition also calls the one with lotus eyes. The tale reminds listeners that even the fiercest forces of the world can find peace in humble worship.
பணிய வந்த பதினொருவர்
சிவனின் சினம் நிறைந்த நடனம் அவரது பதினொரு புதிய வடிவங்களைத் தோற்றுவித்தபோது உலகம் ஆபத்தில் இருந்தது. பதினொரு ருத்திரர்களும் மின்னலைப் போல உக்கிரமாக இருந்தனர். ஆனால் திருமால் தோன்றியபோது, அந்தப் பதினொருவரும் அவர் முன் பணிய வந்தனர் என்று கதை கூறுகிறது. தேவர்களின் அரசனான இந்திரனும் வந்தான்; அனைவரும் சேர்ந்து இந்தச் சிறிய கோயிலில் இறைவனை வழிபட்டனர். இறைவன் வைகுந்தநாதன், அதாவது வைகுந்தத்தின் தலைவன், என அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்; கருவறை வைகுந்தத்துக்கே நிகரானது என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது. தாமரைக் கண்ணன் என்றும் மரபு அழைக்கும் இறைவன் முன் பார்வையாளர்கள் நீண்ட நேரம் நிற்கிறார்கள். உலகின் மிகக் கடுமையான ஆற்றல்களும் எளிய வழிபாட்டில் அமைதி காணலாம் என்பதை இக்கதை கேட்பவர்களுக்கு நினைவூட்டுகிறது.
Historyவரலாறு
The legend tells that the eleven Rudras and Indra, king of the gods, worshipped Vishnu here, and that the sage Uthankar and King Uparisaravasu did so as well. The temple is praised by Periyazhwar, Thirumazhisai Azhwar and Thirumangai Azhwar and is mentioned in the 108 Tirupathi Anthathi. The walls that enclose the temple today are a modern addition.

Architectureகட்டிடக்கலை
The complex has only one enclosure and one shrine. The tank lies to the north. The presiding deity, Vaikuntanathar, also called Thamaraikannudaiyapiran, the one with lotus eyes, sits in the sanctum with his consort and the festival images. The Garuda Mandapa is in line with the central shrine, close to the entrance.
