Nine temples (counted as eight Divya Desams, since the pair at Tholaivillimangalam counts as one) stand along the Thamiraparani river. Alwarthirunagari (98), the birthplace of Nammazhwar, is the most important, and Srivaikuntam (91) is the first on the traditional list.
