A sage named Vedavit lived by the river Thamiraparani and spent his life serving his elderly parents. The son who served his parents first
A sage named Vedavit lived on the banks of the Thamiraparani and spent his life serving his elderly parents. He wanted to do penance, but he first took care of them until they died. Then he longed to begin his meditation. Vishnu appeared to him in the form of a Brahmin and advised him to go to a place called Varagunamangai. For many years Vedavit sat in meditation there, and the lord was pleased with his devotion. When the lord appeared before him, Vedavit asked him to stay in the form of Vijayasana, the lord who is seated in victory. The place is also said to be linked to a sage named Romesar, who did severe penances for thousands of years. Both stories honour the quiet virtues of service and patience.
பெற்றோருக்கு முதலில் பணிவிடை செய்த மகன்

Historyவரலாறு
The name of the temple is said to come from the god Varagunamangai, who gave his vision to a Brahmin scholar, as one of Nammazhwar's poems says. It is generally assumed that the name comes from the king Varaguna Pandya, though that is uncertain. The Brahmanda Purana contains a chapter, the Navathirupathi Mahatmeeyam, and the temple is one of the Nava Tirupati revered by Nammazhwar. It is also associated with the planetary temples of the region.

Architectureகட்டிடக்கலை
The temple stands on the Tiruchendur to Tirunelveli route on the bank of the Thamiraparani, in the Dravidian style. A rectangular granite structure encloses the shrines and a five-tiered gateway tower pierces it. A sixteen-pillared granite hall stands in front of the tower. The sanctum has the seated image of Vijayasana Perumal flanked by his two consorts, with the festival images of Vijayasanar and Varagunavalli inside the sanctum.
