Once Vishnu spent his time with Sridevi and forgot to meet Bhudevi, the earth goddess. Historyவரலாறு
The temple is one of the Navatirupati, the nine temples revered by Nammazhwar on the banks of the Thamiraparani. The Brahmanda Purana has a chapter on them, and the Vaikunta Mahatmeeyam, available only in palm manuscripts, mentions the temple. Nammazhwar refers to this temple in his Thiruvaimozhi. It also forms part of a series of planetary temples. It is mentioned in the 108 Tirupati Anthathi in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Architectureகட்டிடக்கலை
The temple stands on the Tiruchendur to Tirunelveli route on the bank of the Thamiraparani, in the Dravidian style. All the shrines are in a rectangular granite structure. The temple has an imposing image of Vishnu, from whose navel a lotus stalk rises with the image of Brahma. The feet of the deity can be viewed through the passage. The temple has two enclosures, and the images of Bhudevi and Sridevi and the festival images are in the sanctum.
