The storyகதை
Brahma once bragged about how long his life was. A sage named Romasa decided to teach him to be humble, but not by getting angry. He prayed.பிரம்மா தன் வாழ்நாள் எவ்வளவு நீண்டது என்று பெருமை பேசினார். ரோமசர் என்ற முனிவர் கோபமின்றி வழிபாட்டால் அவருக்குப் பணிவைக் கற்பிக்க முடிவு செய்தார்.
Vishnu appeared and gave the sage a gift: a very long life, even longer than Brahma's. Every time a hair fell from the sage, Brahma's life would be one year shorter.திருமால் தோன்றி முனிவருக்குப் பிரம்மாவைவிட நீண்ட ஆயுளை வரமாக அளித்தார்; முனிவரின் ஒரு முடி உதிர்ந்தால் பிரம்மாவின் ஆயுளில் ஓர் ஆண்டு குறையும்.

The sage with a longer life than Brahma
Brahma once boasted about the length of his life. A sage named Romasa heard him and decided to teach him humility, not through anger, but through prayer. He sat in deep meditation at this place until Vishnu appeared. The sage then asked to see the great form that the lord had shown when he measured the world with his three steps as Trivikrama. Vishnu agreed. He also gave the sage a boon: that his life would be even longer than Brahma's, and that every time one hair fell from the sage's body, a year would be taken from Brahma's life. This story is told in the Brahmanda Purana. It teaches that pride, even in the mighty, is small before the greatness of the lord.

Historyவரலாறு
The Brahmanda Purana mentions this place as Patalika Vanam and Uttama Kshetram. Tradition says that the sage Vishvamitra performed a fire ritual here and that the place was called Siddhashrama. Over time the temple fell into ruin, and an old woman is said to have kept the idol safe in a pot of rice, until Thirumangai Azhwar arrived and she handed it over to him. He is believed to have built the temple. It is also the place where, according to tradition, he won a debate with the Shaiva poet-saint Sambandar by composing verses in praise of Vishnu.

Architectureகட்டிடக்கலை
The temple has a rectangular plan with tall brick walls and a three-tiered gateway tower. The main image is of black stone, showing Vishnu as Trivikrama with four hands holding the discus and the conch, balancing on one leg and lifting the other high. In front stand the processional images of Vishnu, Sridevi and Bhudevi. The sanctum is approached from the gateway tower through a flagpost and an altar. Sage Ashtakoma is said to have been blessed by the lord here.
