He named her Kamalavalli, which means the girl of the lotus. When she grew up, she heard so many lovely stories about the lord of Srirangam that she wanted to marry only him.அவளுக்குக் 'கமலவல்லி' என்று பெயரிட்டான்; தாமரைப் பெண் என்பது பொருள். அவள் வளர்ந்ததும் திருவரங்கத்து இறைவனைப் பற்றிய அழகிய கதைகளைக் கேட்டு, அவரையே மணக்க விரும்பினாள்.
The king was kind and wise, so he arranged a wedding. The people say the lord came to Uraiyur as a handsome bridegroom. The princess from the lotus pond
A Chola king named Nanda Chola had no children, and he prayed to Vishnu for many years. One day, while hunting in the forest, he saw a pond full of lotuses. In the heart of a thousand-petalled flower lay a baby girl. The king knew his prayer had been answered, and he named her Kamalavalli, the girl of the lotus. When she grew up, she heard so many beautiful stories about the lord of Srirangam that she fell in love with him and wanted no other husband. The king was gentle and wise, so he did not argue. He prepared a wedding. On the day, say the tellers, Ranganatha came to Uraiyur as the beautiful bridegroom, Azhagiya Manavalan. Every year, the Srirangam deity visits Uraiyur to be seen together with his bride, and the people of both towns watch with joy.

Historyவரலாறு
The temple is believed to be very old and was already known by the 7th century. Later Cholas, Pandyas, Vijayanagara kings and Madurai Nayaks added to it. The place was an early Chola capital, Uraiyur, and the name Thirukkozhi, 'the place of the cock', comes from a legend in which a rooster defeated an elephant here. The temple is looked after today by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Tamil Nadu, together with the Srirangam temple.

Architectureகட்டிடக்கலை
A granite wall surrounds the temple and its water tanks. There is a five-tiered main gateway tower, and the sanctum roof is called the Kamala Vimanam. The main image shows Azhagiya Manavalan seated. Kamalavalli's shrine faces north, which is said to be the only one among the Divya Desams where the principal goddess faces that way. There are separate shrines to Ramanuja and Nammazhwar, and the walls of the Nammazhwar shrine have paintings from the early 1800s of Vishnu's avatars, teachers and Azhwars.
