Using this page
Find the simple interest using interest = principal × rate × time ÷ 100. Principals, rates and times are chosen so every answer is a whole number of rupees. Simple interest appears in Class 7 and Class 8 maths in India (NCERT) and in Year 8 and Year 9 financial maths in Australia.
Tips
- Show the working, even when the answer seems obvious; it makes mistakes easy to spot.
- Check each answer: put it back into an equation, or estimate before working out.
- Start with the easier setting and move up once most answers are right.
- Mix one older sheet into each week so earlier skills stay fresh.
Worked example
Principal ₹2,000, rate 5% a year, time 3 years. Interest = 2000 × 5 × 3 ÷ 100 = ₹300.
Common mistakes
Using the time in months when the rate is per year.
Forgetting to divide by 100 at the end.
