Long ago, the gods and demons fought a long war. The gods asked Vishnu for help, and then everyone churned the great Ocean of Milk to find the nectar of immortality.வெகு காலத்துக்கு முன் தேவர்களும் அசுரர்களும் நீண்ட போரிட்டனர். தேவர்கள் திருமாலிடம் உதவி கேட்க, அனைவரும் சேர்ந்து பாற்கடலைக் கடைந்து அமுதம் பெற முயன்றனர்.
When the nectar appeared, the demons tried to take it. The lady who saved the nectar
Before the churning of the Ocean of Milk, the gods and demons fought a long war, and the demons were winning. The gods asked Vishnu for help. They then churned the great ocean together to find the nectar of immortality. When the nectar appeared, the demons tried to take it. Vishnu took the form of Mohini, a bewitching lady, and with her charm and cleverness, he kept the nectar away from the demons so that the gods could drink it. Tradition says that Thirumogur, the place of Mohini, is where this happened. The lord of this temple is called Kalamegha Perumal, the dark cloud lord, and he is shown standing with five weapons. It is a story about cleverness defeating strength, and about the lord helping those who ask.
அமுதைக் காத்த பெண்

Historyவரலாறு
Sangam literature describes the place as prosperous, and the Greek writer Ptolemy (c. 100 to 170) also refers to it. An inscription on the inside of the south outer wall names the builder of the temple as Kaalamegam, also called Kangeyan, during the reign of the later Pandya king Sadaiyavarman Sundara Pandyan. The temple is said to be more than 2,000 years old and is mentioned in Sangam works such as Akananuru, Pathitrupathu and Maduraikanchi, as well as the epic Silappathikaram. Nammazhwar and Thirumangai Azhwar sang of it.

The temple is in Thirumohur, a village 20 km from Madurai, on 2.5 acres. It has a five-tiered gateway tower and four enclosures. The main deity, Kalamegaperumal, stands in panchayudha kolam, holding five weapons. The consort is Mogavalli, the festival image is Thirumogur Aabthan, and the temple tank is the Kshirabdha Pushkarini.
