Regions and Languages of India: Class 4 Study Guide
India is a large country with many regions and languages. People are different and still share one country.
It is helpful to group India into regions: the north, south, east, west, centre and north-east. Each region has its own climate, food, dress and ways of celebrating, and states in a region often share some features.
India has many languages. The Constitution lists 22 languages in its Eighth Schedule, and hundreds more are spoken in homes and villages. Hindi and English are used for the work of the central government. Many people speak two or three languages.

India is called a land of unity in diversity. We speak different languages, wear different clothes and eat different food, but we share the same country, flag and Constitution. Respecting every language and culture makes the country stronger.
