Animals and Birds of India: Class 1 Study Guide
India is home to many wild animals and birds. We should protect them and their homes.
India has forests, grasslands, rivers and coasts, and many animals live in them. The tiger is the national animal and the peacock is the national bird. The elephant is well known too, and so is the lion, which lives in the Gir forest in Gujarat.
Some animals are wild and some live with people, such as cows, goats, dogs, cats and hens. Wild animals live best in their own homes in forests, so we must not disturb them or feed them.
