Using this page
Find the selling price when a marked price is reduced by a percentage discount. Discount = marked price × discount percent ÷ 100, and selling price = marked price − discount. Discount is part of Class 7 and Class 8 percentage work in India (NCERT) and of Year 7 and Year 8 percentages in Australia.
Tips
- Show the working, even when the answer seems obvious; it makes mistakes easy to spot.
- Check each answer: put it back into an equation, or estimate before working out.

Worked example
Marked price ₹800 with a 25% discount. Discount = 800 × 25 ÷ 100 = ₹200. Selling price = 800 − 200 = ₹600.
