In the story of this place, Gajendra the elephant and the goddess Lakshmi both loved to worship Vishnu with lotus flowers.இத்தலக் கதையில் யானை கஜேந்திரனும் திருமகளும் தாமரை மலர்களால் திருமாலை வழிபட விரும்பினர்.
One day Lakshmi gathered all the lotuses for her worship, and Gajendra found none left. He was sad and called to the lord.ஒருநாள் திருமகள் எல்லாத் தாமரைகளையும் பறித்துவிட, கஜேந்திரனுக்கு ஒன்றும் மிஞ்சவில்லை. வருந்தி இறைவனை அழைத்தான்.
Vishnu was pleased with both. The lotus garden and the elephant
In the story of this place, Gajendra the elephant and the goddess Lakshmi both loved to worship Vishnu with lotus flowers. One day, Lakshmi gathered all the lotuses from the pond for her own worship, and Gajendra found none left for his prayers. He was sad and called upon the lord. Vishnu was pleased with both of them. He gave Lakshmi the boon that she would always be beside him, and he gave the entire lotus garden to the elephant, so that he could continue to pray. The place is also remembered by local people for another reason: it is said that the Pandavas, during their forest exile, came to this river bank and installed an image of Vishnu, which Arjuna worshipped. The temple has a quiet air, sitting beside the Bharathappuzha river.

Historyவரலாறு
The Mahabharata period is mentioned in the temple's legend, which says the Pandavas built the temple during their exile and that Arjuna established it, performing penance at the site. It is also said that Ambareesha, a king of Ayodhya, got moksha here. The temple is also called a Mumurthi Kshetra because Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma are all worshipped. Kulasekhara Azhwar sang about it.

Architectureகட்டிடக்கலை
The temple is built in the traditional Kerala style, on the banks of the Bharathappuzha at Thirumittacode, about 5 km south of Pattambi. It has five shrines: Shiva, Vishnu as Abhayapradhan, Vithuvakootuvalli, Vinayaka and Ayyappan. There is no gateway tower, only an arch from the main road, and a small rectangular wall surrounds the temple.
