About this classroom tool
Random groups save time and avoid the awkwardness of students choosing their own teams. They also mix up who works together, which helps everyone get to know the class. The group maker spreads any extra students across the groups so nobody is left out, and you can print the groups or show them on the board. Your class list stays on your device.
Tips
- Group sizes never differ by more than one, so nobody is left on their own.
- If two students should not be together, make a new mix or swap them after printing.
- Mixed groups change who students talk to; try a new mix for each project.
- For pairs, choose groups of about 2.
Common questions
What happens with an odd number of students?
The extra students are spread across the groups, so some groups have one more person than others.
