About this classroom tool
A visible timer makes time limits concrete for students: how long is left for a quick write, packing up or a group task. The large numbers can be read from the back of the room, especially in full screen. Use the stopwatch for fitness activities or to time how long transitions take. The timer runs in your browser, keeps accurate time, and needs no account or download.
Tips
- Short, visible time limits help with transitions such as packing up or a quick write.
- Pair the timer with the noise meter for silent reading time.
- For tests, set the full time and keep the timer on the board.
- If sound does not play, click the page once first: some browsers only allow sound after a click.
Common questions
Does the timer keep going if I switch tabs?
It keeps time correctly, but browsers slow down hidden tabs, so leave it on screen for a smooth countdown and the beep at the end.
Can I use it without the internet?
Once the page has loaded, the timer runs in the browser without needing the connection.
Everything on this page is made in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere. It works on a laptop, an interactive whiteboard or a projector, and Full screen makes it easy to see from the back of the room. For more, see the worksheets and printable paper.
