Letter to Santa Template (printable)

A letter to Santa to print and fill in. Younger children finish the prompts (my name is, this year I have been good at, for Christmas I would love), and older children can write a whole letter on the lines.

How to use this page

  1. Type a name if you like. It is printed on the letter, or leave it blank for the child to write.
  2. Choose fill-in prompts for younger children or plain lines for older ones, and tick the drawing box if there is room for a picture.
  3. For the reply from Santa, type the child's name and something they did well this year, so the letter feels personal.
  4. Press Print. The letter fits on one A4 or Letter page.

About this Christmas printable

Writing to Santa is a lovely way to practise writing for a real reader. The fill-in version gives children sentence starters so they only need a few words each, while the lined version leaves room for a proper letter with a greeting and a sign-off. Ask children to include a thank you and a wish for someone else, not just a list of toys. There is also a box for a drawing, which helps children who are not yet writing much. Put the finished letter in an envelope, or keep it as a record of the year.

Tips

Common questions

Where can children post a letter to Santa?
Australia Post usually sets up Santa mail each year. Check its website in November for the address and the date letters need to arrive.

Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. The letter is made in your browser and printed from there.

Everything on this page is made in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere. Printed pages carry a small makekite.com footer and a faint kite in the background. For more, see the worksheets and printable paper.
