About this Christmas printable
A countdown chart gives children something to look forward to each day without a box of chocolates. The activity ideas are chosen for an Australian December: a picnic in the park, a backyard water fight and a walk to see the lights sit alongside baking biscuits and singing carols. A few focus on giving, such as donating a toy or making a card for a neighbour. Swap any idea that does not suit your family or your week before you print, and save the bigger outings for weekends.
Tips
- Swap any activity that does not suit your family before printing: the ideas are suggestions, not rules.
- Plan the bigger activities, such as seeing the lights, for weekends.
- Let children take turns colouring the box each day.
- Print two copies if you have children of very different ages.
Common questions
Are the activities expensive?
No. Most cost nothing, such as reading a story, singing carols or making paper snowflakes, and a few need simple supplies like paper or biscuit ingredients.
Can I start later than 1 December?
Yes. Cross off the days that have passed and start from today's box.
