Year 3 NAPLAN-Style Conventions of Language Practice Test 2

  • 20 questions
  • 45 minutes (the NAPLAN time for Year 3)
  • Scored as soon as you finish, with every answer explained

Part 1 has 10 spelling questions: type the correct spelling of the underlined word. Part 2 is grammar and punctuation. As in the real test, once you move on to Part 2 you cannot go back to the spelling.

About this practice test

NAPLAN conventions of language tests check spelling, grammar and punctuation in Standard Australian English. The spelling section comes first, then grammar and punctuation, and the spelling section locks when students move on. This practice test copies that order. The spelling questions practise common patterns and tricky words for Year 3, and the grammar and punctuation questions cover the language features in the Australian Curriculum: English, such as capital letters, question marks, verbs and simple joining words.
