About this practice test
NAPLAN conventions of language tests check spelling, grammar and punctuation in Standard Australian English. The spelling section comes first, then grammar and punctuation, and the spelling section locks when students move on. This practice test copies that order. The spelling questions practise common patterns and tricky words for Year 3, and the grammar and punctuation questions cover the language features in the Australian Curriculum: English, such as capital letters, question marks, verbs and simple joining words.
How to use it
- Do the test in one sitting, with the timer on, to get used to the pace of the real test.
- Afterwards, go through every question you missed and read the explanation. The skills table shows what to practise next.
- Try the test again a week later and compare scores. Your best score is remembered in this browser only.
- Teachers can use the tests on a classroom screen to talk through the questions together.
Important
These practice tests are written by makekite. They are not official NAPLAN tests, and they are not produced or endorsed by ACARA. Scores here are a guide to practice only and are not NAPLAN results or proficiency levels. To see the official question types and the real test screen, try ACARA's NAPLAN public demonstration site. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, and sharing your score shares only the score and a link to this page.
