Knitting Graph Paper
Knitting chart paper sized from your gauge, so the rectangles match real stitch proportions. Rows numbered from the bottom right.
What it's for
Knit stitches are wider than they are tall, so square graph paper distorts colourwork. Enter your gauge (stitches and rows per 10 cm) and the cells take the true proportions. Rows and stitches are numbered from the bottom right, the way charts are read.
Which size to choose
A4 or Letter suits most motifs. Use A3 for whole sweater fronts.
Printing tips
- Pick the paper size above first. The print dialog should then show the same size; if it doesn't, choose it there too.
- Set Scale to 100% or Actual size (not "Fit to page") so measurements stay true. Margins are already built into the sheet.
- Turn off "Headers and footers" in the print dialog for a clean edge.
- Choose Grey to save ink, or Black if you will photocopy the page.
