Copperplate Calligraphy Guide Sheet
Copperplate and Spencerian practice sheets with 3:2:3 guidelines and 55° or 52° slant lines. Choose the x-height you need.
What it's for
Copperplate uses a 3:2:3 ratio of ascender, x-height and descender space with slant lines at about 55° from the horizontal. Spencerian is usually practised at about 52°. Start with a larger x-height and work down as your control improves.
Which size to choose
A4 and US Letter suit pointed pens. A5 is handy for travel practice pads.
Printing tips
- Pick the paper size above first. The print dialog should then show the same size; if it doesn't, choose it there too.
- Set Scale to 100% or Actual size (not "Fit to page") so measurements stay true. Margins are already built into the sheet.
- Turn off "Headers and footers" in the print dialog for a clean edge.
- Choose Grey to save ink, or Black if you will photocopy the page.
