How to play
Press “Hear the word” to listen (and “In a sentence” to hear how it is used), then type the spelling and press Check. The easy level shows the sentence with the word blanked out and tells you how many letters it has.
⌨️ Keyboard: type letters directly; Backspace undoes; Enter checks typed answers.
What it teaches
Spelling from dictation links sounds to letters (phonics) and to common spelling patterns. The lists move from short phonic words for Years 1–2 to words with silent letters and tricky vowel sounds for Years 5–6, and use Australian spellings such as colour, centre and neighbour.
Levels: Years 1–2 (Short everyday words) · Years 3–4 (Common tricky words) · Years 5–6 (Longer words)
Free to play, with no sign-up and no ads beside the game. Best scores are saved only in this browser. All artwork and sounds are made in code by makekite.
