🛒 Better Buy

Compare two pack sizes and prices to find the better value, using unit prices per 100 g, 100 mL or each.

How to play

Work out what each pack costs for the same amount – per 100 g, per 100 mL or per item – then pick the lower unit price. Bigger packs are often cheaper per unit, but not always!

⌨️ Keyboard: press 1–4 to pick an answer, or type your answer and press Enter.

What it teaches

Comparing “best buys” uses rates and proportional reasoning, which the Australian Curriculum develops in Years 7 and 8. Australian supermarkets must show unit prices on shelf labels, so this is a skill students can use straight away.

Levels: Easy compare (Big price gaps) · Closer (Smaller gaps) · Sharp shopper (Very close prices)
