🐾 Animal Groups Sorter

Classify animals as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians or fish – including tricky ones like whales, bats and platypuses.

How to play

Use the features on each box: fur and milk for mammals, feathers for birds, dry scales for reptiles, moist skin for amphibians, gills and fins for fish. Tap or drag each animal into its group. Explanations appear for the tricky ones.

⌨️ Keyboard: press the number on a box to sort the card into it.

What it teaches

Grouping living things by observable features is a Year 3 Science focus, and Year 7 uses classification keys. The tricky animals show that we classify by features, not by where an animal lives or how it moves.

Levels: Easy (Five groups) · Medium (Tricky animals) · Hard (Add insects)
