About this practice test
NAPLAN reading tests use a mix of imaginative, informative and persuasive texts. This practice test has original texts written for Year 9 readers and questions that ask students to find information, work out what a word means from the text, make inferences, notice how a text is organised and judge its purpose or message. The results table groups the questions by these skills.
How to use it
- Do the test in one sitting, with the timer on, to get used to the pace of the real test.
- Afterwards, go through every question you missed and read the explanation. The skills table shows what to practise next.
- Try the test again a week later and compare scores. Your best score is remembered in this browser only.
- Teachers can use the tests on a classroom screen to talk through the questions together.
Important
These practice tests are written by makekite. They are not official NAPLAN tests, and they are not produced or endorsed by ACARA. Scores here are a guide to practice only and are not NAPLAN results or proficiency levels. To see the official question types and the real test screen, try ACARA's NAPLAN public demonstration site. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, and sharing your score shares only the score and a link to this page.
