In English
Doe-eyed girl, yesterday you said, 'Tomorrow I will come and wake you myself.' Are you not ashamed? Tell us where those words went. Has it still not dawned? The sky, the earth and everything else cannot know him. He came himself and graciously made us his own. Open your mouth to those who have come singing his long anklets. Melt, body! What suits you suits us too. Let us sing of the Lord of all the others as well.
About this verse
The girls turn the tables: the friend who promised to wake them all is the one still in bed. The teasing is kind, and the verse ends by saying that the Lord belongs to everyone.
