In English
Night and day we speak of the Supreme Light with love. When do we speak like that? Is it now, on this flower bed? You with the fine jewels, have you set your love on this bed? Shame, shame! Are these things small? Is this a place for playing and mocking? Even the gods feel shy to praise him, yet he comes to give his flower-like feet. He is the radiant Lord of Shiva's world, in the small hall at Thillai. We are the loving servants of that Lord. Who are we?
About this verse
The girls say that devotion is not only talk. They tease the friend who has promised to love the Lord day and night but still lies on her flower bed, and the verse ends with a humble question: who are we to be his servants?
