A short summary in Tamil and in plain English, one part for each line of the verse, written for this page.
In English
Born as the son of one woman, you grew up hidden, in a single night, as the son of another. Kamsa could not bear it and planned harm. You made his plan fail, and stood like a fire in his belly. Great Lord, we have come to you with our wish. If you grant us the gift of the vow, we will sing of your glory and your valour, and our sorrows will be over and we will rejoice.
About this verse
This verse recalls the story told of Krishna's birth: born to Devaki, he was carried in a night to Yashoda's home, where he grew up safe. His uncle Kamsa, who wanted to harm him, was left in fear.
