In English

Like a fine lion that has lain asleep in a mountain cave in the rains, which wakes, opens eyes like fire, shakes out its mane on every side, stretches, roars and strides out, you, who are the colour of the kaya flower, come out in the same way from your palace and come here to us. Sit on your fine throne and look into the matter for which we have come.

About this verse

One of the best-known verses of the Thiruppavai. Krishna is compared to a lion that wakes in its cave, stretches and roars, and the girls ask him to take his seat and hear their request.
