A short summary in Tamil and in plain English, one part for each line of the verse, written for this page.
In English
Nappinnai, daughter-in-law of Nandagopala, whose strength is that of a mighty elephant in rut, and who never turns his back in battle, you whose hair is full of fragrance, open the door. Look, the cocks are calling everywhere. The koels have sung again and again on the Madhavi arbour. You whose fingers hold the ball, we have come to sing the name of your cousin. With your lotus-like hands and your lovely bangles ringing, come and open the door, and we will rejoice.
About this verse
After waking the household, the girls turn to Nappinnai, the dear companion of Krishna, and ask her to open the door and join them in the singing.
