எங்கள் தலைவனாக விளங்கும் நந்தகோபனின் கோயில் காவலனே, கொடிகள் தோன்றும் தோரண வாயிலைக் காப்பவனே, மணிகள் பதித்த கதவின் தாழைத் திற. ஆயர் சிறுமிகளாகிய எங்களுக்கு நோன்புப் பரிசைத் தருவதாக, மாயவன், மணிவண்ணன் நேற்றே சொல்லியிருக்கிறான். தூய்மையுடன் வந்திருக்கிறோம், அவனை எழுப்பப் பாடுவதற்காக. வாயால் முதலில் மறுத்துச் சொல்லிவிடாதே. அன்பான இந்த நிலைக் கதவை நீக்கித் திற.
In English
Keeper of the palace of Nandagopa, our lord, keeper of the gate with its arches and flying banners, undo the latch of the jewelled door. To us, the young cowherd girls, the wondrous, jewel-coloured Lord promised yesterday to give the gift of the vow. We have come pure, to wake him with our song. Please do not turn us away with a word first. Open the sturdy door, dear friend.
