In English

You are the beginning, the middle and the end. Even the three great gods do not know you. Who else could? You, together with the Lady, whose fingers hold the ball, come to the old huts of your devotees, O Supreme One. You showed your form, which glows like red fire. You showed the temple at Thiruperunthurai. You showed yourself as a Brahmin teacher, and came to take us as your own. Precious nectar, please rise from your bed.

About this verse

This verse recalls how, according to tradition, the Lord appeared to Manikkavacakar as a teacher under a tree at Thiruperunthurai, and took him as his own. It also says that he visits even the humblest homes of his devotees.
