In English

The lovely cuckoos have called, and the cocks have crowed. The birds have sung, and the conches have sounded. The stars have faded, and the bright dawn has come. It all comes together, as we longed for. God, show us your two feet with their close-fitting anklets. Shiva, who lives at Thiruperunthurai, no one can fully know you, yet you are easy for us to reach. Our Lord, please rise from your bed.

About this verse

This verse is full of the sounds of morning: cuckoos, cocks, birds and conches. It also holds one of the poem's main ideas, that the Lord is beyond everyone's understanding and yet easy for his devotees to approach.
