🦅 Food Chain Builder

Build food chains from Australian and ocean habitats, starting with the producer and ending with the top predator.

How to play

Every food chain starts with a producer – a plant or algae that makes its own food using sunlight. Then tap the animal that eats it, then what eats that animal, and so on up to the top predator.

⌨️ Keyboard: press a card's number to place it next, Backspace to take the last one back.

What it teaches

Food chains show how energy passes from producers to consumers. The Australian Curriculum introduces feeding relationships in Year 4 and food chains and webs in Year 7. Australian examples connect the idea to local ecosystems.
