Gross to net pay calculator
Turn pay before tax into take-home pay for any pay cycle, for residents, working holiday makers and foreign residents, with optional HELP repayments.
An estimate only. It leaves out the Medicare levy reduction for low incomes, the Medicare levy surcharge, deductions, salary sacrifice, other offsets and any extra withholding your employer applies. Working holiday maker and foreign resident rates use the latest ATO tables (2025-26). HELP is only included for residents. Check the ATO before relying on it.
How this calculator works
The calculator turns your pay into a yearly figure, works out income tax with the ATO rates for your tax status, adds the 2% Medicare levy for residents, subtracts the low income tax offset where it applies, and then subtracts any HELP repayment. What is left is divided back into your pay period.
Worked example: $3,500 a fortnight is $91,000 a year. For 2026-27 income tax is $4,020 + 30% × ($91,000 − $45,000) = $17,820, the Medicare levy is $1,820, so take-home pay is $71,360 a year, or about $2,744.62 a fortnight. A working holiday maker on the same pay keeps about $70,450 a year, and a foreign resident about $63,700, because they have different rates and no Medicare levy.
