Casual loading calculator
Convert between a base hourly rate and a casual rate including the 25% loading.
Loading is usually 25%, but the correct figure comes from your award or agreement and may differ. Penalty rates, overtime and unpaid leave are not included.
How this calculator works
Casual rate = base rate × (1 + loading). To go backwards, base rate = casual rate ÷ (1 + loading). A 25% loading is not the same as taking 25% off a casual rate.
Worked example: a base rate of $30 with a 25% loading gives a casual rate of $37.50. Working backwards, a casual rate of $37.50 is a base of $30, not $28.13. At 30 hours a week the casual rate pays $1,125 a week before tax.
Sources and checks
A 25% loading is common, but your award or agreement sets the real percentage.
