New Zealand take-home pay calculator
Income tax, the ACC earners' levy, student loan repayments and KiwiSaver taken out of a New Zealand salary, with pay per month, fortnight and week.
An estimate for 2026-27 using Inland Revenue's published rates. It uses the student loan threshold IRD lists for the 2026 tax year, and it does not include secondary income, tax credits, Working for Families, employer KiwiSaver contributions or ESCT. The ACC rate includes GST. Check Inland Revenue for current figures.
How this calculator works
Income tax is worked out in slices: 10.5% on the first $15,600, 17.5% up to $53,500, 30% up to $78,100, 33% up to $180,000 and 39% above that. The ACC earners' levy is 1.75% of earnings up to $156,641 for the year to 31 March 2027, and a student loan takes 12% of income above $24,128. KiwiSaver is the percentage you choose, taken from your pay after tax.
Worked example: on $85,000, income tax is $17,927.50 and the ACC levy is $1,487.50, so take-home pay is $65,585 a year, or about $5,465 a month. With a student loan, another $7,304.64 comes off, leaving $58,280.36.
