Why keeping a written car maintenance log increases resale value

A well-maintained vehicle lasts hundreds of thousands of kilometres longer and fetches a significantly higher resale price when you eventually sell. While modern digital logbooks exist, having a neat physical record sheet in the glovebox gives buyers immense confidence.

Record every service event: logbook servicing dates, odometer readings, oil filter replacements, wheel alignments, brake pad changes, and new tyre installations. Staple invoice receipts to the back of the logbook sheet.

Regularly inspecting fluid levels (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer) and tyre pressures between scheduled mechanic services catches minor issues before they escalate into costly mechanical breakdowns.
