How to prepare for a routine rental property inspection
Routine periodic rental inspections can feel stressful, but property managers are primarily looking for two things: that the home is clean and reasonably cared for, and that there are no unreported water leaks or safety hazards.
Use a systematic room-by-room checklist two days before inspection. Focus on high-scrutiny areas: degreasing the oven and rangehood filters, descaling shower glass screens, wiping down skirting boards, and clearing cobwebs from cornices and window tracks.
Take the opportunity to report maintenance issues in writing—such as a dripping tap, slow-draining basin, or sticking window latch. Property owners appreciate proactive tenants who protect the property from moisture damage.
