How to set up a homework routine
A good routine beats nagging. Choose a regular time and a quiet spot, with the phone and TV out of the way, and have snacks and water ready so there are fewer excuses to leave the table.
Use a weekly homework planner. At the start of the week, write what is due and when, then break larger tasks into small steps across the days. Checking the planner together takes a minute and avoids Sunday-night surprises.
Stay nearby but let your child do the work. Ask questions rather than giving answers, and finish with a short check that everything is packed. If homework regularly takes much longer than expected, talk to the teacher.
