How to build a habit tracker that lasts

Start with one to three habits. Making them small and specific is the key: walk for ten minutes, not get fit. Link each one to something you already do, such as stretching after brushing your teeth.

Print a monthly tracker and put it where you will see it. Fill in a box each day you do the habit. A visible streak is motivating, but do not give up if you miss a day; just restart the next day.

At the end of the month, look at the page. Keep the habits that worked, drop the ones that did not, and change the plan rather than blaming yourself. Add a new habit only after the others feel automatic.
