🧩 Sliding Tile Puzzle

Slide numbered tiles around a grid until they are in order. Choose a 3 × 3, 4 × 4 or 5 × 5 board.

How to play

Tap a tile next to the empty gap to slide it in. Arrange the tiles in order from 1 in the top-left corner, with the gap in the bottom-right corner. Tip: solve the top row first, then the left column, and keep going.

⌨️ Keyboard: arrow keys slide a tile into the gap.

What it teaches

Sliding puzzles build planning, spatial reasoning and persistence – you sometimes have to move a tile away from its spot to get others into place. These are core parts of the Critical and Creative Thinking capability in the Australian Curriculum.

Levels: 3 × 3 (8 tiles) · 4 × 4 (15 tiles) · 5 × 5 (24 tiles)
