Super balance projection calculator
Project your superannuation balance at retirement, in future dollars and in today's dollars.
A projection, not a prediction. It takes 15% contributions tax off employer and extra concessional contributions, adds each year's contributions at year end, and assumes a steady return. Returns, fees and the rules change over time.
How this calculator works
Each year the balance grows by the return, then that year's contributions are added: balance = balance × (1 + return) + 0.85 × (salary × super rate + extra). Salary grows each year, and dividing the final balance by (1 + inflation)years shows it in today's money.
Worked example: starting with $80,000, earning $85,000 growing 3% a year, with 12% employer super and a 6.5% return for 30 years, the projected balance is about $1,566,000. In today's dollars at 2.5% inflation that's about $747,000.
