Germany marginal tax rate calculator
See how much extra tax and solidarity surcharge another €1,000 of taxable income would cost you, and your average rate.
An estimate on taxable income for 2026. It uses the same rules and limits as the Germany income tax calculator and does not include church tax.
How this calculator works
The marginal rate is how much more tax you pay on your next euro. This calculator works out the tax twice, with and without another €1,000 of taxable income, and takes the difference, so it includes the effect of the solidarity surcharge's sliding zone. In the 17,800 to 69,878 euro range the rate rises steadily from about 24% to 42%.
Worked example: a single person on €50,000 pays €10,548. On €51,000 the tax is €10,901, so the next €1,000 costs €353, a marginal rate of 35.3%.
