Standard drinks calculator (Australia)
Work out how many Australian standard drinks are in a glass, can or bottle.
For information only. The safest choice is not to drink. Don't drink and drive, and don't drink while pregnant or breastfeeding.
How this calculator works
Standard drinks = volume (L) × % alcohol × 0.789, where 0.789 is the density of ethanol. One Australian standard drink contains 10 g of alcohol. The NHMRC's 2020 guidelines advise healthy adults to drink no more than 10 standard drinks a week and no more than 4 on any one day.
Worked example: a 375 ml can of 4.8% beer = 0.375 × 4.8 × 0.789 = 1.4 standard drinks. A 150 ml glass of 13.5% wine is 1.6.
