Lineal metres calculator
Convert an area into lineal metres and number of boards for cladding, decking, flooring or battens.
Use the cover width (what each board actually covers once laid), not the nominal width.
How this calculator works
Lineal metres = area ÷ cover width in metres. Weatherboards overlap and decking has gaps, so the cover width differs from the board width.
Worked example: 20 m² of 135 mm cover cladding needs 148.1 lineal metres, or 163 m with 10% waste. That's 31 boards at 5.4 m.
