Fence materials calculator
Estimate posts, rails and palings for a straight paling or picket fence.
For a straight run. Add a post for each corner and gate. Check the dividing fence rules in your state before you build on a boundary.
How this calculator works
Bays = length ÷ post spacing, rounded up. Posts = bays + 1. Palings = length ÷ (paling width + gap).
Worked example: 30 m at 2.4 m spacing is 13 bays, so 14 posts and 39 rails. Butted 100 mm palings need 300, or 315 with 5% spares.
