Cake tin size converter
Scale a recipe when you change cake tin size or shape, between round and square.
A bigger tin at the same depth needs a little longer in the oven. Start checking at the original time.
How this calculator works
Ingredients scale with the tin's base area. Round: π × d² ÷ 4. Square: side². Keep the cake the same depth.
Worked example: going from a 20 cm round tin (314 cm²) to a 23 cm round tin (415 cm²) means multiplying everything by 1.32. A 20 cm square tin holds 1.27× as much as a 20 cm round one.
